Zeus 1.4 has been released!
It's been a year coming, and perhaps there's been less work done than we'd hoped. But it's here now, it's incredibly stable, and work continues on new features if not daily, then at least weekly.
For new users, Zeus costs £xx (UK Pounds) and can be obtained as described by the information at the end of this press release. Buy online with your credit card over our website!
Existing users can upgrade from any version of Zeus to 1.4 for free! Updates from 1.x to 1.4 are available from our website or for FidoNet File Request from TKG BBS (2:442/107.0).
Here is a brief list of the bigger changes from 1.3 to 1.4:
- ZMailer - New recent log window, where you can view the last 50 lines of the log window in the tradition of Gotcha and Trapdoor. Enhanced logging and configuration program. Can launch an external program to examine data from the modem, such as Caller ID strings. New ARexx commands.
- PostMan - Easier support for more than one sysop-side user.
- DLG Emulation - Support for DLG library version 2, meaning that you can now run programs like the excellent online editor EmacsDLG.
- /X Emulation - This new door emulator layer lets you run many doors originally written for the AmiExpress package.
- ZMP - The mail processor now sports the ability to send Fido mail to specific nodes using any AKA address your BBS has, rather than just your main address. Sorts the statistics file used with ZMPStat. New %FORCERESCAN AreaFix command.
- Control - Load background images using datatypes or the built in IFF loader.
- ZGate - Has run very stable, unattended, for months processing large amounts of mail a day. Improved mapper configuration so you can specify whole email addresses.
- ZMPStat - Some nice visual and command line argument improvements.
- Lines - Supports ring back, for those who want a private node on a voice line without distinctive ring. Supported by both ZMailer and Connector.
- FileManager - New menu item: Bulk Moved Upload. Same as Bulk Upload, but always deletes the original file.
- ZNewsXfer - Has not failed in 6 months despite extreme stress testing with heavy mail loads. Supports downloading different groups from different news servers.
- Files - You can now specify a minimum amount of space to leave free on drives which files are saved to, including MultiPaths, and supports partitions of two TeraBytes in this way.
- BlueWave/QWK door - Fixed a long-standing bug that made it unusable.
- Zeus - Now remembers last calls (see Prefs/System) by age in days rather than by number of calls. Huge new statistics update to Zeus - see the history file for details.
- Doors - New RecentCallers door, a clone of the classic recent callers door from Digital Candy BBS in the UK.
