Zeus RAID
RAID-1 disk mirroring for the Amiga
Version 1.0 - Download - Register
Zeus RAID mirrors a partition onto a second disk. Every write goes to both
disks; if one fails, the volume carries on from the other with no reboot and
no lost data, and you replace the dead disk while you keep working.
It is a device, zraid.device, that sits between the filesystem and your disks.
The filesystem sees one ordinary partition, so it works with FFS, SFS and PFS3,
and your programs need no changes at all.
Mirroring
- Every write goes to two partitions on two different disks
- A disk that fails is dropped and the array keeps running on the other, with a requester to tell you
- Add a replacement disk and it is copied in the background while the volume stays in use
- After a crash or reset only the regions being written at the time are copied again, not the whole disk
- Disks over 4GB through NSD and TD64; arrays up to 2TB
Safe to start, safe to stop
- Build an array from a partition that already holds your data: it is mirrored onto the second disk, nothing is reformatted - you can convert your existing disks to RAID in place!
- Delete an array and your partitions go back exactly as they were
- Check and repair compare both disks while the volume is in use
Window and Shell
- A MUI window showing every array, its disks, its state and progress
- The ZeusRAID Shell command for scripts
- An AmigaGuide manual
- English : and machine generated tranlations for German, French, Dutch, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, Finnish, Polish and Welsh.
Requirements
- AmigaOS 3.0 or newer, any 68000 or better
- Two partitions on two different physical disks
- MUI for the window (optional: the Shell command works without it)
RAID-1 is not a backup
Mirroring protects you against a disk failing. Deleted or overwritten files,
viruses and filesystem damage are copied to both disks at once, so keep
backing up. Zeus RAID is supplied without warranty of any kind; see the
Licence and Assurance pages of its guide.
Shareware
Zeus RAID is shareware. Try it free for 30 days with nothing disabled; if you
keep using it, please register for
£100.
