Zeus 1.7 has been released!
This update brings a faster message scanning API for ARexx scripts, a message base maintenance fix, and a long-awaited Installer script. Existing users can upgrade from Zeus 1.6 to 1.7 for free.
Here is a brief list of the changes since 1.6:
- mbzeus - Reverse message scanning, which had never worked correctly, is now fixed.
- MsgControl - Three new ARexx commands, InitMsgScan, MsgScan and EndMsgScan, provide an interface onto the fast message header scanner in the Zeus message library API. This was previously only available to binary software, and can be significantly faster than the old ARexx method of using LoadMsg with no body text for individual message numbers. The example script messages/scanmsgs.zeus has been updated to use it.
- zmf.library - The private UserMsgData structure used by MsgControl has been extended, and the previously undocumented ScanMsgHdrs function is now documented.
- Installer - Completed the Installer script that was started back in 2007, making it easier to get a new BBS up and running.
